- CHOOSE YOUR SURGEON WISELY
Research is key when choosing the right surgeon. Like Dr Tunç Tiryaki, the surgeon must be board certified. Looking at pre and post-op photos, reading testimonials and speaking to past and present clients about their experience will give you a strong indication of the surgeon’s results and expertise.
Be wary of those promising miracles! You must always be aware of the risks and complications before undergoing surgery.
- HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
It is our unique features that make us beautiful. Dr Tunç Tiryaki’s goal when operating on a patient is to always create stunning, yet natural-looking results. A facelift aims to reverse signs of ageing and improve your overall appearance, NOT to create a fake or operated face.
- REACH YOUR DESIRED WEIGHT BEFORE SURGERY
For those wanting to lose weight, Dr Tunç Tiryaki recommends reaching your desired weight before surgery. Fluctuations in weight after surgery can cause volume changes and this will negatively affect the final result.
- TAKE TIME TO RECOVER
Recovering from a facelift takes time and patience. Two days after surgery, Dr Tunç Tiryaki’s patients have their bandages removed for a first glimpse at their rejuvenated appearance. However, it is not until two weeks post-op that all the stitches are removed, and the patient can return to work. Resting and relaxing is essential during this period of recovery, as it can take up to three weeks with some make-up coverage for red-carpet-ready results.
- WAIT SIX MONTHS BEFORE JUDGING THE FINAL RESULT
Dr Tunç Tiryaki recommends waiting between three to six months before completely assessing results. This is because it takes a long time for the swelling to dissipate and scars to completely heal. Anti-ageing does not happen overnight.
- CHOOSE A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE JUST TO SAVE MONEY
Plastic surgery is an investment, both in terms of time and money. It is crucial to find a surgeon that you can trust. If a surgeon is too expensive, consider saving up or looking into financing options. Do not rush the procedure. A delay is better than bad results.
- HAVE THE MINDSET THAT A FACELIFT WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS
Facial ageing is caused by deep bone-level volume loss. Losing facial bone volume causes skin attenuation. Dr Tunç Tiryaki’s facial rejuvenation is a balanced reversal of volume loss and, with tissue transfer where the skin and muscles are pulled up to their original position. However, a complete make-over is achieved by adding stem cells for skin regeneration and after the surgery, botulinum injections are suggested for the upper face wrinkles. This will help achieve a harmonious and sustainable look.
- LISTEN TO ‘GOOGLE DOCTORS’ OR ENERGY VAMPIRES
Recovering from facial surgery is a personal journey and concerns raised by family and friends can lead to unnecessary fear or even panic. Dr Tunç Tiryaki advises his patients to keep in mind that asymmetry, oedema, tightness and numbness are all normal and part of the recovery process. If you have chosen your surgeon carefully, then they will have twelve years of formal academic and surgical training. Call your surgeon, not your friends, if you have any worries or concerns.
- CONSTANTLY LOOK AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR
Although tempting, Dr Tunç Tirkyaki recommends avoiding looking in the mirror. Looking at your appearance too many times can lead to over-analysis: searching for flaws or hints of complications. Keep in mind that swelling, bruising and asymmetry are all completely normal. With patience comes beautiful results.
- SMOKE OR TAKE BLOOD THINNERS TWO – THREE WEEKS BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY
It is important to avoid consuming any blood thinners two weeks before or after surgery. This includes omega-3 supplements, aspirin and heavy alcohol.
Anaesthesia and smoking do not mix! Smoking impairs the ability of blood to carry oxygen, which influences the body’s reaction to anaesthesia. Smoking also decreases blood flow to the operated area, preventing proper healing. Dr Tunç Tiryaki advises to refrain from all tobacco products and vaping for best results better health!
